Trump Speaks on Iran Conflict: NATO Withdrawal Considered

President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will soon conclude its military conflict with Iran, though 'spot hits' may occur if circumstances necessitate. This statement was made hours before a primetime address to the nation where Trump also mentioned potentially withdrawing the U.S. from the NATO alliance.

Trump reiterated that the military action had already ensured Iran could not develop nuclear weapons, thus allowing the U.S. to consider swiftly pulling out troops. He confirmed Tehran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a major global fuel shipment route, continues to concern U.S. interests, but there is currently no agreement regarding a ceasefire.

With European states maintaining a calm stance in response, France's junior army minister remarked that any NATO operations in the strait would contravene international law. Meanwhile, the International Energy Agency warned global oil supplies will take a more significant hit due to these tensions, worsening energy disruption worldwide.
