On Friday, the Women's Wing of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) forcefully denounced senior AIADMK leaders, C Ve Shanmugam and Dindigul C Sreenivasan, for making derogatory remarks about women.
This demand for an apology was articulated by SDPI Women's Wing state president K Fathima Gani, who expressed serious concern over the leaders' actions. She highlighted the disappointment when figures in elevated positions, such as an MP and former Minister, lower themselves to insulting rhetoric.
During a recent protest, Shanmugam made offensive comments about a government initiative, while Sreenivasan faced backlash for similarly insensitive remarks. Gani stressed the necessity for political leaders to uphold dignity and respect for women, warning that such conduct sets a harmful societal precedent.
