The AIADMK and its allies organized statewide protests in Tamil Nadu, accusing the ruling DMK government of a decline in law and order. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami spearheaded the demonstrations in Chennai, with BJP state chief Nainar Nagenthran joining in Madurai.
The protests criticized the increase in illicit liquor sales and drug availability, notably affecting students. Palaniswami lamented that children were falling victim to drug abuse near educational institutions. Additionally, the protests condemned the government's alleged failure to ensure the safety of women and children.
In response, State Natural Resources Minister S Regupathy challenged the AIADMK to present crime statistics from their governance for comparison. He insisted that the DMK has taken significant measures to safeguard women and encourage victims to report crimes, improvements he claims were absent under AIADMK rule.
