National Conference leaders expressed outrage over the attack on their party president, Farooq Abdullah, demanding a thorough investigation into the security lapse that allowed a gunman to get close to the former chief minister, who is under Z+ security protection.
The incident occurred as Abdullah, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, was leaving a wedding event. The assailant fired shots but Abdullah remained unharmed, prompting calls for an immediate review and enhancement of his security cover.
Political leaders, including National Conference MLA Ajaz Ahmed Jan, criticized the breach, which they believe poses a threat to the region's political leadership, especially after changes brought by the abrogation of Article 370.
