The Meghalaya assembly halted its scheduled proceedings on Friday to pay tribute to late MP Ricky A J Syngkon. The move, led by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, came just a day after Syngkon's unexpected passing.
Speakers in the assembly highlighted Syngkon's impactful contributions, with House Speaker Thomas A Sangma stating that only obituary references would be addressed as a mark of respect to the Voice of the People Party (VPP) leader.
Syngkon, aged 54, suddenly collapsed during a futsal game outside the city. His death, confirmed at a local hospital, was described by Chief Minister Sangma as a profound loss, highlighting Syngkon's ability to connect with people through his charm and simplicity.
