IUML Seeks Strategic Alliance: Five Seats with DMK for 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has announced its intentions to contest five seats in partnership with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, according to IUML National President Kader Mohideen. In a statement to ANI, Mohideen urged the DMK to nominate 16 Muslim candidates.

Mohideen made this announcement following an IUML Executive Committee meeting held in Chennai's Royapuram. He emphasized their demand for 16 seats for Muslim candidates, as the IUML reaffirmed its dedication to securing a win for the DMK-led coalition, praising the state's governance under Chief Minister Stalin.

The political climate is charged as AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami criticized the DMK's Interim Budget, describing the ruling party's 'Dravidian Model' as a 'deceptive model.' With both major parties aggressively preparing for the 2026 elections, Tamil Nadu's political scene is set for intense competition.
