In the midst of ongoing alliance discussions between Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections, AIADMK leader Kovai Sathyan criticized Congress, stating it has lost its respect as a political partner. Speaking to ANI on Sunday, Sathyan remarked that DMK has consistently ignored Congress's requests, indicating a widening rift in their collaboration.
"The respect they had is long gone," Sathyan stated, highlighting Congress's diminished standing within the alliance. Despite efforts and a 45-day committee formation, DMK's disregard for Congress's appeals points to a failing partnership. Sathyan believes even with a potential compromise, the fractured relationship will hinder any positive outcome on the ground, where party divisions are evident.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Manickam Tagore pointed to Tamil Nadu Minister Raja Kannappan's prediction of DMK's potential electoral success. Tagore underscored power-sharing as a fundamental right of the party and noted that the electorate would ultimately make the decisive choice. Tamil Nadu Congress President K Selvaperunthagai announced that alliance talks would commence on February 22, affirming unity within the INDIA bloc despite BJP's divisive strategies.
