In a scathing accusation, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Election Commission of India for allegedly collaborating with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of voter lists in Uttar Pradesh. Yadav alleged that the BJP has employed agencies to manipulate electoral rolls and forge voter signatures.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav asserted that the BJP is deeply involved in the revision process, adding or removing names at will while the Election Commission remains unresponsive to complaints. He criticized the EC, a constitutional body, for appearing to favor the BJP, thus undermining trust in the electoral process.
Previously, Yadav accused the Election Commission of a 'mega-scam' aimed at disenfranchising opposition voters, particularly from minority communities. Meanwhile, the UP Chief Electoral Officer announced that notices were issued to voters due to mapping and logical inconsistencies, calling for certified evidence to verify details.
