In a recent press conference, Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar asserted that Jawaharlal Nehru hindered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's path to becoming India's Prime Minister. According to Dilawar, had Patel taken the helm, the country's image would have been considerably bolstered.

Accompanied by state energy minister Heeralal Nagar, Dilawar highlighted Patel's key contribution in orchestrating the integration of nearly 600 princely states into India, during the post-independence era. Patel's persuasive efforts ensured Hyderabad's inclusion, steering the nation towards unity.

Dilawar alleged internal party politics played a part in Patel's sidelining, stating that Nehru's resistance led to Gandhi blocking Patel's prime ministerial prospects, despite significant support from the Congress executive committee. Dilawar further claimed that Nehru's reluctance to work under anyone else forced Patel to exit the race.
