Decline in Indian Soybean Meal Exports: High Prices to Blame
Indian soybean meal exports fell by 11% to 20.23 lakh tonnes in the oil marketing year 2024-25 due to low international demand. Despite major importers like Germany and France, India's prices remain uncompetitive against the US, Brazil, and Argentina, impacting global market demand.

India's soybean meal exports have declined by 11% to 20.23 lakh tonnes during the oil marketing year 2024-25, attributed to low international demand, according to the Soybean Processors Association of India.
Germany, France, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Kenya emerged as top importers, receiving 55% of India's total soybean meal exports within this period. Last year, exports reached 2.275 million tonnes.
D N Pathak, Executive Director of SOPA, stated that competitive pricing by major exporters like the United States, Brazil, and Argentina has led to reduced demand for Indian soybean meal. The product is vital in various sectors, including food production and animal feed.
