The INDIA bloc on Tuesday announced a commitment to abolish the ban on toddy and reevaluate the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, if they assume power in the state.
Contained within a 32-page manifesto, entitled 'Bihar ka Tejashwi Pran', the alliance has vowed to provide government employment to one family member per household, reintroduce a discontinued pension scheme, and offer 200 units of complimentary electricity, among other pledges.
Key emphasis is placed on reviewing the prohibition laws, with specific attention to ending the toddy ban. This move is expected to revive the livelihoods for communities traditionally reliant on the toddy trade, according to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the bloc's chief ministerial candidate.
