The INDIA bloc has made a significant electoral promise by pledging to block the Waqf (Amendment) Act in Bihar. This move, part of their manifesto unveiled on Tuesday, aims to enhance transparency and welfare in managing Waqf properties across the state.
Additionally, the opposition coalition stated that it would ensure the management of Bodh Gaya's Buddhist temples is transferred to the Buddhist community, while also reinforcing the constitutional rights of minority groups within Bihar.
Tejashwi Yadav, the INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate, has been vocal about nullifying the Waqf Act, a sentiment echoed by CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya. The Act, passed in April, has stirred controversy with BJP supporters advocating it as an empowerment tool, while critics see it as infringing on Muslim rights.
