In a bold political move, Chief Minister Suhail Afridi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa staged a sit-in on Thursday on Rawalpindi's Adiala Road. His protest comes after authorities denied him a meeting with imprisoned PTI founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan.
Addressing supporters, Afridi criticized the authorities for ignoring court orders, framing it as a symbol of judicial failure. Security was heightened as the situation escalated, causing traffic disruptions in the area. PTI activists vocalized their backing for Afridi and their disgruntlement with the current situation.
Despite reaching out through formal channels and writing to federal and Punjab governments, Afridi claims these attempts yielded no results. In addition to his protest, he plans to seek societal support to address this issue. Afridi asserted his commitment to governance while underscoring Imran Khan’s influence within their political framework. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi cautioned against using protests as a pathway to resolution, emphasizing courts as the only viable solution.
