President Droupadi Murmu's Sabarimala visit faced an unexpected hiccup when her helicopter's wheels became lodged in an incomplete concrete helipad at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The issue arose upon landing on the freshly laid surface.
The landing site, initially planned at Nilackal, was switched to Pramadam at the last moment due to inclement weather conditions, leading to a rushed creation of the helipad. Consequently, the concrete failed to set properly, failing under the helicopter's weight.
After the President's departure by road to Pamba, located at the base of the Sabarimala hill shrine, local police and fire services collaborated to free the helicopter's wheels from the depressions. The President continues her four-day official visit across the southern state.
