President Murmu Unveils Bust of Former President K. R. Narayanan in Kerala

President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, unveiled the bust of former President of India, Shri K. R. Narayanan, at Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram, on October 23, 2025. The solemn ceremony was attended by former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Kerala Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Bihar Governor Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, and other distinguished guests. The event marked a poignant tribute to one of India's most revered statesmen who rose from humble beginnings to occupy the nation's highest constitutional office.

In her address, President Murmu described Shri Narayanan's life as a powerful testament to courage, perseverance, and the transformative power of education. Born into a modest family in Kerala's Uzhavoor village, Shri Narayanan overcame social and economic barriers to excel academically and become a symbol of intellectual brilliance. He earned a first-class degree from the University of Travancore and went on to study at the London School of Economics, where he was mentored by the renowned political thinker Harold Laski.

Before entering politics, Shri Narayanan served with distinction in the Indian Foreign Service. Later, as Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and a Member of Parliament, he continued his dedication to public service and intellectual growth.
