Tragedy Strikes: Fireworks Unit Explosion in Mundathikkode

In Mundathikkode, a deadly explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit has claimed 14 lives and left four individuals missing, police reported on Friday. The incident has prompted police to initiate extensive search operations, recovering numerous body parts with the aid of cadaver dogs.

Officials confirmed that 132 body parts have been found and sent to Thrissur Medical College for preservation and DNA testing. A specialized team is tasked with matching recovered DNA samples with those from relatives of the missing individuals in an effort to provide closure to the families.

The explosion occurred on April 21, during a time when approximately 38 people were present at the site, which consisted of multiple temporary sheds amidst paddy fields. Authorities continue their exhaustive search and investigation efforts to comprehend the full extent of this tragic incident.
