The Nashik Police have initiated an investigation into alleged sexual exploitation by self-proclaimed godman Maheshgiri alias Mahesh Dilip Kakde. This follows a complaint by a 28-year-old woman, who, empowered by activists, accused him of exploiting her under the pretense of spiritual healing rituals.
The woman, facing personal issues, was taken by her parents to Prati Gangapur mutt, where Kakde claimed she was under a black magic spell. He allegedly manipulated her into performing certain rituals and later sent her inappropriate messages before taking her to a lodge where the exploitation occurred, she reported.
Kakde is also accused of photographing the woman without her consent and threatening her to prevent any complaint. Legal action under the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Black Magic Act has been initiated. In a related case, another godman, Ashok Kharat, was previously arrested for similar offenses.
