A self-proclaimed spiritual leader, Rhythm Ashok Panchal, aged 37, has been apprehended for deceiving individuals by promising to resolve their personal and professional issues through occult practices. Using the alias Monty, Panchal convinced people of his supposed divine capabilities while demanding peculiar ritual items such as alcohol, cigarettes, and goat liver.
The Dindoshi police revealed that Panchal performed these rituals while consuming the items, instructing his followers to wrap the remnants in colored cloth and dispose of them at crossroads. He persistently threatened dire consequences for those who failed to comply with his instructions or dared to question his methods.
Panchal, once a gym trainer, abandoned his profession to engage in these fraudulent activities. The law caught up with him once a victim reported the scam. The authorities have arrested Panchal under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Act against inhuman practices like black magic.
