Karambir Singh Nalwa's New Role in High-Profile Terror Case
Karambir Singh Nalwa, a noted lawyer, has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor for the Pahalgam terror attack case. The Union Home Ministry designated him under the NIA Act to lead the trial in special and high courts. His appointment is effective for three years or until trial completion.

Noted lawyer Karambir Singh Nalwa has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor to spearhead the trial of the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 25 tourists and a local pony operator last year.
The Union Home Ministry announced Nalwa's appointment on Wednesday, utilizing powers vested by the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. Nalwa is tasked with representing the NIA in both the special court in Jammu and the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Nalwa's term as Special Public Prosecutor is set for three years, or until the trial's conclusion or the NIA's satisfaction with his performance, depending on which comes first.
