Court Halts Ayodhya Land Acquisition, Raises Compensation Concerns

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court took a decisive step on Wednesday by halting the ongoing land acquisition efforts for Uttar Pradesh Awas Evam Vikas Parishad projects in Ayodhya. This ruling directs all involved, including state authorities, to keep the status quo until further notice.

During the session, the justices were informed of the challenges faced due to procedural discrepancies. Petitioners' counsel wrapped up their arguments, while the state's legal representatives were not prepared to present their case, leading to the court's directive for them to submit written arguments if unready at the next hearing.

The petitioners pointed out the issues with the 1965 Act, emphasizing missed benefits outlined under the newer 2013 law. The court recognized these discrepancies, which prompted the provisional suspension of the acquisition processes initiated under recent notifications.
