International Delegation Observes India's Electoral Transparency
A delegation from seven countries assessed India's poll preparations in Siliguri ahead of the West Bengal elections. The visit, featuring representatives from Namibia, Georgia, and other nations, aimed to observe the transparency and efficiency of India's electoral process, with a focus on EVMs and VVPAT units distribution.

A 13-member international delegation from countries including Namibia, Georgia, and Nepal visited Siliguri in West Bengal to review India's electoral preparedness on Wednesday. The visit coincides with the first phase of assembly elections, scheduled for April 23, highlighting the transparency of India's voting system.
The delegation, alongside Election Commission officials, inspected the Distribution-cum-Reception Centre at Siliguri College ground. The team, which included representatives from the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, observed the dispatch of polling personnel and election materials, including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units.
The visit underscored the global interest in India's ability to conduct elections efficiently in a populous nation. Delegation members interacted with local polling staff to gain insights into the country's electoral management as it prepares for subsequent election phases on April 29, with results expected on May 4.
