U.S. to Reclassify Marijuana, Marking Major Policy Shift
The United States administration is set to reclassify marijuana, marking a significant federal policy shift. This move is aimed at removing barriers to research the drug's use cases, following an executive order by President Trump. The Drug Enforcement Administration has not yet reclassified it.
The United States administration is poised to reclassify marijuana as soon as Wednesday, according to reports from Axios that cite a knowledgeable official.
This decision is poised to mark one of the most significant changes in federal marijuana policy in decades, aimed at removing obstacles that hinder research into the drug's potential uses. The shift follows an executive order signed in December by U.S. President Donald Trump, which directed the easing of federal marijuana regulations.
As of now, the Drug Enforcement Administration of the Justice Department has not reclassified the drug.
