Supreme Court Intervenes to Safeguard Child's Future Amid Paternity Dispute

The Supreme Court has stepped in to protect the future of a child entangled in a paternity dispute, urging the Delhi government to evaluate the child's living conditions and health. The case involves a woman's appeal challenging a Delhi High Court decision that denied maintenance for her child due to a DNA test that disproved paternity.

The woman, who had worked as domestic help, claimed the father initially promised marriage, leading to a brief marriage and the birth of the child. After their relationship deteriorated, she sought maintenance and protection under the Domestic Violence Act. However, courts repeatedly denied her requests, citing the DNA results.

Despite the legal setbacks, the Supreme Court insisted on a thorough investigation into the child's welfare, encompassing aspects of education, nutrition, and access to basic necessities, directing appropriate intervention where needed.
