In a significant drug bust, law enforcement authorities in Maharashtra's Beed district arrested 25-year-old Shaikh Rais Shaikh Yusuf for the alleged possession of 8.8 kg of ganja, valued at Rs 2.6 lakh, as confirmed by local police on Tuesday.
The operation was conducted by the local crime branch, which acted on information about suspicious activities, leading them to a premises in Sirasdevi inside Georai tehsil on Monday night. The raid uncovered the contraband, following which Yusuf was apprehended.
A case has been registered against Yusuf under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Officials noted that the arrest marks a critical step in combating the illegal drug trade, as further investigations are being carried out to uncover any networks involved.
