In a significant bust, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested two individuals allegedly involved in a plot to create a terror network aimed at waging war against the country and establishing 'Ghazwa-e-Hind'. The accused were reportedly using social media to radicalize individuals and recruit youths for their cause.
The primary accused, Irfan Kalekhan Pathan, from Patan district, was closely monitored before being detained. Evidence from his mobile phone linked him to ISIS and other extremist groups, revealing his active participation in spreading jihadist propaganda and plotting attacks on political leaders associated with the RSS.
Aided by Maharashtra Police, the ATS also arrested Murshid Zahid Akhtar Sheikh from Mumbai, whose phone revealed similar involvement. Both individuals face charges of criminal conspiracy and waging war against the Government. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further links and participants in the terror plot.
