Alleged Poison Plot: Extradition Battle Begins

Ajith Kumar Mupparapu, a British-based pharmacist, has begun his fight against extradition to India, where he is wanted for allegedly poisoning his ex-wife's family with arsenic in 2023. The accusations include the death of his former mother-in-law and an attempt to hire assassins against his father-in-law.

Prosecutors in India claim Mupparapu orchestrated sending arsenic-laced chilli powder and salt to the family, leading to the death of Uma Maheshwari, Muttavarapu's mother, during a wedding celebration. Further allegations involve a plot to murder his ex-father-in-law, Hanumantha Rao.

Mupparapu's legal team contests these charges, pointing to insufficient evidence and potential mistreatment if extradited. The case, being tried in London's Westminster Magistrates' Court, will determine whether he will be sent to India. The court is set to reach a decision soon.
