The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has postponed a decision regarding an FIR against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi related to allegations of dual citizenship. The court aims to evaluate whether a prior notice to Gandhi was legally essential before proceeding further.

A bench led by Justice Subhash Vidyarthi indicated possible cognisable offences against Gandhi and had permitted the Uttar Pradesh government to potentially involve a central agency in the probe. However, the court has now opted to first review the legal requirement concerning notification issuance.

This development followed a revelation of a full court verdict requiring that the proposed accused be notified in similar cases, a fact overlooked in prior hearings. The matter, originally initiated by BJP worker S Vignesh Shishir alleging Gandhi's UK citizenship and his involvement with a British company, will reconvene for hearing on April 20.
