The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has temporarily paused its order for an FIR against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi concerning a dual citizenship controversy. The court's decision aims to reassess whether prior notice to the accused was legally required.

A bench led by Justice Subhash Vidyarthi initially observed cognisable offences against Gandhi, permitting the Uttar Pradesh government to potentially hand over the investigation to a central agency. However, the court decided to examine the legal position regarding the issuance of notice before any directive.

The ruling followed a petition by S Vignesh Shishir, who alleged Gandhi had British citizenship. The court will now revisit the issue on April 20, as additional legal requirements were identified after the dictation of the bench's order.
