The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has expressed alarm over what it describes as an increase in 'love jihad' cases in Kerala, calling for a robust anti-conversion law. This claim was articulated by VHP National Secretary General Milind Parande at an event held in Kerala.
Parande cited a case involving a young tribal woman and a Muslim man, claiming the woman was abducted from Madhya Pradesh and brought to Kerala. He further alleged that the Kerala government provides protection instead of intervening in such cases, thus turning the state into a 'paradise for love jihadists.'
The VHP leader criticized the role of missionary groups in religious conversions through foreign funds and questioned the administration of Hindu temples in contrast to mosques and churches. Meanwhile, a young woman mentioned in the alleged case stated that her marriage was consensual, dispelling the 'love jihad' allegations.
