Crackdown on Poaching: Yeoor Forest's Anti-Snare Campaign

The Maharashtra forest department carried out an extensive combing operation in the Yeoor forest range in Thane district on Saturday, aimed at finding and removing traps set by poachers. Officials reported that this joint effort included teams from the Thane forest department and Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali, focusing on eliminating threats to local wildlife.

Authorities meticulously searched the forest floor, inspecting critical areas for evidence of illegal activities. This operation was a reaction to growing concerns about the illegal poaching and smuggling of wild animals in the region. The campaign highlights the importance of safeguarding the forest's biodiversity, which includes leopards, barking deer, and various bird and reptile species.
