Germany Acts to Secure Jet Fuel Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruption

Germany is addressing concerns over jet fuel supplies amidst disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz by engaging aviation industry representatives in discussions. The economy and transport ministries aim to reassure stakeholders, as there is no current fuel shortage risk, according to a ministry spokesperson.

Scheduled talks with fuel traders, airports, and airlines underscore Germany’s proactive stance. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil emphasized the necessity of precautionary measures to ensure supply security in a discussion with Der Spiegel magazine.

In response to the repercussions of tensions in Iran, European airlines have urged the EU to implement emergency monitoring of jet fuel supplies. Germany's contribution to the international release of strategic oil reserves includes 50,000 tons of jet fuel, as part of its 4.9% share.
