Navigating AI Governance: India's Strategic Setup

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has established an advisory body to bolster the functions of the newly formed AI Governance and Economic Group (AIGEG). The Technology and Policy Expert Committee (TPEC) will offer expert insights for effective decision-making on AI policy and regulation.
Chaired by the Secretary of MeitY, TPEC includes prominent figures from academia, the tech industry, and digital policy domains. The committee aims to ground the AIGEG's governance discussions in the latest technological and policy developments, balancing global practices with India's socio-economic and strategic needs.
This institutional framework is designed for a proactive approach in AI governance, ensuring strategic coherence across government initiatives and adapting to future technological landscapes, according to an official release.
