The controversy surrounding the women's reservation bill has intensified political discourse following its defeat in the Lok Sabha on Friday. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized the bill's failure, saying it neither served justice to South India nor women. He warned of the adverse effects the forthcoming 2026 census might have on the region due to delimitation.
On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president YS Sharmila denounced the delimitation law linked to the reservation bill, terming it an 'illegitimate law.' She accused the BJP of using women's empowerment as a facade for implementing disciplinary measures. In response, BJP president PVN Madhav expressed concern over Congress members opposing the bill, warning them of political repercussions.
As the political fray continues, the conversation around women's rights and parliamentary representation remains at the forefront, with differing opinions sharply dividing major political parties over issues of regional equity and gender justice.
