BJP national president Nitin Nabin lashed out at Congress and its allies on Friday, blaming them for the failure of the 131st Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. He accused them of an 'anti-women stance' and committing a 'grave betrayal' against the women of India.
The BJP sees the bill as a landmark step for women's representation, a sentiment echoed by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who termed April 17 a 'black day' for women and democracy. He criticized the opposition for scuttling 'dreams, aspirations and self-respect of crores of women.'
Nabin pledged that BJP would lobby the issue to the public, mobilizing women across the country to oppose what he describes as the 'anti-women' acts of Congress and its allies. By defeating the bill, the opposition has drawn fire, revealing their perceived insincerity towards women's empowerment.
