The Supreme Court has refused to entertain Congress leader Pawan Khera's plea for protection against potential legal action in a case accusing Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife of false declarations.
Khera must pursue anticipatory bail in Assam, following the top court's decision. During a press briefing on April 5, Khera alleged that Riniki Bhuyan Sharma possessed undeclared assets, claims denied by the CM and his wife.
The court instructed Assam's legal bodies to expedite Khera's plea without influence from prior remarks. The ongoing legal dispute includes jurisdictional challenges.
