In a significant development, Nepali national Amrit Jha, who was detained by Iranian authorities during a conflict, has been released. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the release following a court order in Iran. Efforts are now underway to facilitate his return to Nepal.

Jha, a resident of Triyuga Municipality in Udaypur and a ship captain by profession, was detained while transporting fuel from Dubai to Iran. His arrest occurred near Qeshm Island close to the Strait of Hormuz, although specifics regarding the timing and reasons remain unclear as per reports from The Kathmandu Post.

In a related humanitarian act, the United Arab Emirates has on the occasion of the holy month of Ramzan, released 128 Nepali nationals imprisoned for various offenses. The Nepalese government has expressed appreciation for this gesture.
