AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has condemned the recent passage of the Uniform Civil Code Bill and the amendment to the Disturbed Areas Act by the Gujarat assembly, deeming them unconstitutional. He argues that the UCC Bill, which advocates for a common legal framework overseeing marriage and divorce irrespective of religion, violates the foundational religious freedoms protected by Article 25 of the Constitution.

Owaisi particularly criticizes the Bill’s stipulations on marriage and live-in relationships, emphasizing that the measure unfairly extends Hindu marital laws to Muslims. He also contends that the provisions destroy the sanctity of marriage as per Islamic beliefs, questioning the motives of RSS and BJP. Furthermore, he highlighted issues with the amendment to the Disturbed Areas Act, which now allows third-party objections in property deals, potentially legalizing commission taking.

Owaisi accused the BJP of expanding government power to declare areas 'prone to disturbance' without a historical basis of riots, arguing that such amendments would not be necessary if Gujarat were truly peaceful. AIMIM plans to contest upcoming local body elections in Gujarat, targeting multiple municipal constituencies and fielding 539 candidates.
