Controversy Erupts Over FCRA Bill Targeting Christian Properties

The introduction of the FCRA Bill by the Centre has stirred significant controversy, as it is perceived to specifically target Christian properties, according to DMK Rajya Sabha MP P Wilson. Wilson expressed concern that the bill's timing during Easter heightened apprehension among Christians regarding their properties being divested.

The FCRA Bill, tabled by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, ostensibly seeks to ensure the transparency and appropriate use of foreign funds. However, critics argue that its true aim is to undermine Christian missionaries, NGOs, and church-related institutions in a draconian manner.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has voiced opposition to the bill, already raising the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He asserts the amendment will not pass under his watch, noting the absence of any clear national interest in the government's move to seize Christian-run institutions including educational and healthcare establishments.
