The Indian government's introduction of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment (FCRA) Bill has raised significant concerns among Christian communities. DMK Rajya Sabha MP P Wilson accused the bill of targeting Christians, particularly during the Easter period, causing widespread apprehension.

Wilson condemned the bill, introduced by the Modi government in 2026, alleging its aim was to strip Christian missionaries, NGOs, and Churches of their properties. He likened the act to a 'robbery at gunpoint,' further questioning the national interest in seizing control of Christian-run institutions, such as schools and hospitals.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has taken the issue to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, vowing to oppose the passage of the amendment. Meanwhile, Union Minister Nityanand Rai argued that the bill seeks transparency and proper utilization of foreign funds, aiming to protect national security.
