Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has expressed strong optimism about the Congress party's prospects in the upcoming Assembly by-elections in the Bagalkote and Davanagere South constituencies, which are scheduled for April 9.
The Deputy Chief Minister cited positive public response to the Congress's guarantee schemes, including 'Shakti', 'Gruha Lakshmi', 'Gruha Jyoti', 'Yuva Nidhi', and 'Anna Bhagya', as a reason for this confidence. The by-elections were prompted by the deaths of sitting Congress MLAs, Shamanur Shivashankarappa and H Y Meti.
