Rahul Gandhi Challenges Modi on Foreign Surveillance Risks

Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, has raised serious allegations against the Modi government, claiming it risks national security by hiding foreign surveillance realities. In a recent Facebook post, Gandhi criticized the government's handling of Chinese surveillance equipment in sensitive areas.

Gandhi pointed to the contradiction between the government's ban on Chinese CCTV cameras and their presence in government buildings. He also raised concerns about banned Chinese apps reappearing under new names and foreign artificial intelligence platforms processing sensitive data. Gandhi's inquiries in Parliament, he claimed, received unsatisfactory responses.

The opposition leader stressed the enduring ambiguity around the origin and security of surveillance equipment used in India and criticized the government's efforts to improve digital infrastructure. The response from the Ministry of Electronics and IT was deemed inadequate, failing to address risks posed by foreign technologies, including CCTV systems and telecom networks.
