SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal unveiled an ambitious plan on Friday, promising a special industrial package tailored for Punjab's Kandi region if the party assumes power in 2027. He revealed this strategy during a rally at Chabbewal, explaining that it includes power and tax subsidies, plus road infrastructure upgrades connecting Pathankot to Chandigarh and Amritsar to Anandpur Sahib.
Badal articulated a vision for a dedicated Kandi Area Development Ministry, addressing goals such as developing the sub-mountainous belt, installing government tubewells, and providing advanced irrigation facilities. Criticizing the incumbent AAP government, he accused it of poor governance and alleged collusion between ministers and criminals, which he argues has hindered investors from entering Punjab.
Furthermore, Badal stressed on prioritizing local employment, proposing a quota of 75% jobs for locals in industries. Plans also include establishing a World Skill University across districts, launching medical and veterinary colleges, and introducing financial support for the youth, alongside expanding welfare schemes and increasing old-age pensions.
