In a decisive crackdown on unauthorized vehicle modifications, Mumbai traffic police have seized 80 dome lights and three sirens from private vehicles attempting to mimic VIP status. A 48-hour special drive concluded with this significant enforcement action, as confirmed by an official.

The seized dome lights were found in red, blue, and yellow colors, illegally installed on unauthorized vehicles. The operation followed numerous complaints about private cars outfitted to appear as VIP vehicles. Teams under the supervision of ACPs from the South Central and Bandra divisions conducted thorough vehicle inspections during this period.

Authorities have taken stringent measures against the offending drivers and vehicle owners in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act. In serious cases, they plan to recommend to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) the cancellation of vehicle registrations, and criminal cases may be registered. The traffic police reiterated that citizens are prohibited from installing unauthorized flashing lights, dome lights, or sirens on their vehicles.
