In a heated session at the Rajya Sabha, DMK Member P Wilson vociferously opposed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, claiming it serves the 'corporate friends' of those in power.

Wilson criticized the bill, claiming it introduces unchecked decriminalization of offenses without distinguishing between minor and serious violations, which compromises public safety and accountability. He argues that it's a systematic dismantling of deterrence, questioning why there was such urgency to pass the bill without proper consultation.

Echoing this sentiment, Congress member ShaktiSinh Gohil labeled it as a 'Vishwasghat' bill due to inadequate time given for members to review its provisions. The bill, intended to amend 79 existing laws, is seen by opposition leaders as weakening judicial rigour for corporate convenience.
