H S Phoolka: From AAP Leader to BJP Member

Senior Supreme Court advocate and former leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), H S Phoolka, is poised to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, as confirmed by insider reports.

Notable for his legal advocacy for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims, Phoolka initially joined AAP in 2014, before parting ways in 2019. A source disclosed, 'He will join the BJP in the presence of top party figures.'

Phoolka's political career includes contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as an AAP candidate from Ludhiana, Punjab, though he was defeated by the Congress's Ravneet Singh Bittu, now a BJP leader. In 2017, Phoolka secured a victory in the Dhaka assembly seat in Punjab and briefly led the opposition in the Punjab assembly before stepping down to prioritize his legal battle in the Delhi High Court concerning the 1984 riots.
