Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has marked an impressive milestone by adding over 5 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity in the fiscal year 2025-26. This achievement propels their total operational portfolio to a staggering 19.3 gigawatts, making it the largest such annual greenfield expansion globally, outside of China, according to the company.
The newly added capacity comprises 3.4 gigawatts of solar power, 0.7 gigawatts (or 686 megawatts) of wind energy, and 1 gigawatt of wind-solar hybrid power. Notably, this expansion is projected to offset about 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability efforts.
Located at Khavda, Gujarat, the majority of this capacity was commissioned at the world's largest renewable energy project, spanning 538 square kilometers—five times the size of Paris. With a goal of achieving 50 gigawatts by 2030, AGEL has already installed 9.4 gigawatts at this site. The company has also launched a 1,376 megawatt hours (MWh) battery energy storage system, further supporting grid stabilization.
