The Delhi High Court has temporarily halted trial proceedings involving industrialist Bina Modi and senior lawyer Lalit Bhasin. They are entangled in a legal case concerning the alleged assault of Godfrey Philips India's Executive Director, Samir Modi, during a 2024 board meeting.

Justice Saurabh Banerjee issued notices in response to petitions from Samir Modi's mother, Bina Modi, and Bhasin, who challenged the trial court's summons. The court has instructed the Delhi police to file a status report within a month.

This move comes amidst claims from the petitioners calling the case baseless. They argue the trial court's decision relied on presumptions and lacked substantial evidence. CCTV footage apparently contradicts the assault allegations, according to the defense.
