Life Sentences Handed Down in Violent 2015 Boundary Clash

A Ballia court has delivered a verdict in a 2015 case involving deadly violence over a boundary wall demarcation. Eight individuals received life sentences, while five others were sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment.
The altercation, which took place in Banahara village, was sparked during a demarcation process conducted by the Naib Tehsildar on orders from the SDM. The clash involved weapons such as axes, swords, and country-made pistols, culminating in the deaths of Nirmal Rai and Ganesh Rai.
A police charge sheet was filed against those involved, leading to their convictions under various IPC sections, including murder and rioting. The court has also imposed a collective fine of Rs 75,000 on the convicted individuals.
