The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has dismissed a complaint accusing InterGlobe Aviation, operating IndiGo, and Air India of abusing market dominance. This complaint centered on allegedly unreasonable cancellation charges and arbitrary pricing by the airlines.
The complainant claimed that together, IndiGo and Air India represent 90% of the domestic market share, thereby raising concerns of anti-competitive practices. Upon review, CCI found these allegations unfounded, citing transparent refund and cancellation procedures applicable to all passengers.
A separate plea for a joint investigation into an unrelated incident involving IndiGo was also dismissed by the CCI, as the case raised different issues.
