Wave of Mobile Phone Snatchings Hits Delhi
From January 2024 to February 2026, over 9,400 mobile phones were snatched in Delhi, indicating a rising trend in such crimes. Only about 42% of these phones were recovered, as disclosed in a Lok Sabha briefing by Minister Nityanand Rai. The figures underscore significant challenges in crime prevention.

Over 9,400 mobile phones have been reported snatched in the national capital from January 2024 to February 15, 2026, as revealed in a recent Lok Sabha briefing.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, informed that Delhi Police recorded one snatching incident every two hours over a span of two years.
Despite registering 9,460 FIRs, only 3,950 snatched and 13,222 stolen phones have been recovered, indicating a significant challenge for law enforcement.
